TAPE Strengthens Cybersecurity Posture with ISO/IEC 27013:2015 Certification

Alexandria, Va. – Technical and Project Engineering, LLC (TAPE) announced today that it earned the International Organization for Standardization’s (ISO’s)/International Electrotechnical Commission’s (IEC’s) 27013:2015 Information Technology (IT) — Security Techniques certification.

ISO/IEC 27013:15 combines two important certifications: ISO/IEC 27001 Information Security Management and ISO/IEC 20000-1 Information Technology — Service Management. The 27013:2015 certification affirms that TAPE has an integrated information security and service management system. This system benefits government clients in many ways, including:

  • Enhanced credibility to provide effective and secure services to clients
  • Improved communication and understanding between TAPE service management and security personnel; and,
  • Reduced contract costs by eliminating duplicative tasks and introducing efficiencies.

Cybersecurity is an increasingly important differentiator for government agencies in industry partner selection, as cyberattacks against the U.S. government increased 1,300 percent to 77,000 annually from 2006 to 2015. High-profile cases include the theft of 5,600 Americans’ fingerprints from the Office of Personnel Management.

Michael Kelliher, TAPE’s Vice President of Enterprise Services, said, “We work with a great deal of sensitive and classified IT data for our Department of Defense (DoD) clients. This ISO/IEC 27013 certification further assures clients that TAPE places equal importance on providing great operational service and protecting the information vital to U.S. interests.”

While TAPE provides the most current technical defenses to protect clients’ critical information, corporate leadership and staff also know that nearly 90 percent of successful cyberattacks are due to human error or behavior. To mitigate this problem, TAPE closely vets and hires only the most qualified network administrators and IT personnel to work on government contracts. In addition to any client-required training, TAPE provides corporate IT security training to all new hires before starting work, annually, and any other time, as needed.

“Cyberattacks on Federal Government IT assets are an increasing threat to our national security,” TAPE President and CEO Louisa Long Jaffe stated. “TAPE’s new ISO/IEC 27013 certification supplements our employees’ training and commitment to keep government information safe. TAPE’s proactive security posture earns our government clients’ trust that cyberattacks will not impact our services.”

TAPE is a CVE-Verified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned/8(m) Economically Disadvantaged Woman-Owned Small Business with ISO 9001:2015 certification. The company helps keep the nation safe and strong by providing technology services, training and readiness solutions, and management consulting to the Federal Government.
