[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]WASHINGTON, DC | Aug. 26, 2014 – Louisa Long Jaffe, CEO and president of Technical and Project Engineering, LLC (TAPE), has been named a “Champion of Change” by the White House for her accomplishments as a veteran leader and entrepreneur. Jaffe will be honored along with other Veteran Champions of Change at the White House on Wednesday, Aug. 27.

Jaffe, chosen because of her accomplishments as a CEO and her support of veterans, will join a panel discussion including other veteran honorees. In her remarks Jaffe will speak about her efforts to build TAPE into a trusted service provider to the government, challenges she has overcome as a business owner, and seizing every opportunity to support veterans and the military community.

TAPE has a strong commitment to supporting veterans as demonstrated by the company’s track record for hiring ex-military personnel. Last year, the Chief of Navy Reserve named TAPE an Outstanding Employer of Navy Reserve Sailors. The company was among 60 corporations nationwide to receive this honor and earlier this year, she was named the First Woman Vetrepreneur of the Year by NaVOBA  Jaffe attributes her company’s success to focusing on hiring the best as well as her application of “asset-based thinking” principles that enable her staff to be empowered and innovative in their roles.

“Being recognized by the White House is the highest honor of my career,” said Jaffe, who co-founded TAPE with her husband, Bill Jaffe, in 2003. “As a veteran and a CEO, I often reflect on the invaluable leadership skills I gained from my time in service.  I can only hope that my achievements inspire veterans everywhere to leverage their military skills and experience in pursuit of their entrepreneurial dreams.”

The event, a panel discussion with other Champions of Change honorees in which Jaffe will participate, will be streamed live on the White House’s websitewww.whitehouse.gov/live. Our Second Lady, Jill Biden, Ph.D., wife of Vice President Joe Biden, will host the event. ABC’s hit business-themed show, Shark Tank, in which investors give budding entrepreneurs a chance to pitch their business ideas, will film the panel discussion. Shark Tank celebrities Daymond John, Kevin O’Leary and Robert Dyer, as well as others, will be present at the event.

The White House honors Champions of Change each week.  Winners selected from dozens of categories across many sectors, including public health, science and technology, the arts and more. Chosen champions are identified as “ordinary Americans doing extraordinary things in their communities to out-innovate, out-educate, and out-build the rest of the world.” Winners are invited to the White House to share their ideas with others in an effort to spread their creative spark and innovative nature in order to inspire others.
