TAPE Names Stewart Wharton as VP, Operations

Alexandria, Va. – Technical and Project Engineering, LLC (TAPE), “Measure Us By Your Results®,” announced today that retired Navy Captain Stewart “Stu” Wharton joined the company as Vice President, Operations.

Serving as the operations deputy to Executive Vice President (EVP), General Manager, (GM) Ted Harrison, Mr. Wharton is responsible for the management of TAPE program execution and overall supervision of employees supporting TAPE’s various programs/contracts. He will also lead, develop, mentor, and manage program managers to work by our employee motto, “Each One: An Entrepreneur.” 

Mr. Wharton previously worked for TAPE from 2011 to 2016 as Director, Naval and Cyber Accounts. He was hired by and worked closely with the late co-founder of TAPE, Bill Jaffe. One of Mr. Wharton’s largest accomplishments during this time was establishing TAPE’s cybersecurity capability and subsequently spearheading the winning proposal for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Security Management, Compliance and Oversight (SMOC) program. He served simultaneously as a Program Manager for both the SMOC effort and the Global Combat Support System-Marine Corps effort from 2013 to 2016.

After separating from TAPE, Mr. Wharton worked at KPMG as the Defense and Intelligence Cyber Sector Lead, followed by being named Executive Vice President for Alamo City Engineering Services, Inc. Previous career highlights include Active Duty Navy assignments as the Executive Officer of the Navy’s telecommunications station in Bahrain and with the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations N6 as the Deputy Chief Information Officer for Information Assurance and Enterprise Architecture. Mr. Wharton’s Navy Reserve highlights include multiple Commanding Officer tours; and Navy 10th Fleet tours as Director, Network Operations and Cyber Defense for the Naval Security Group and Information Professional Community Lead for the Information Dominance Corps Reserve Command. He has also worked as a cyber subject matter expert and executive for various government contractors. 

Mr. Wharton graduated from the Virginia Military Institute and was a Navy officer for 27 years. His professional certifications include Navy Information Dominance Warfare Officer, Certified Information Security Manager, and Project Management Professional.
